Looks like the wait won't be too long...

More The Wombats More The Wombats

The Wombats frontman Matthew 'Murph' Murphy has confirmed work is underway for the follow-up to the band's 2018-released album, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life.

In Australia this month in support of his new side project, Love Fame Tragedy, the Liverpool-born songwriter appeared on the latest episode of The Green Room with Neil Griffiths podcast while in Sydney to discuss what's next for the trio.

"[Drummer Dan Haggis] and [bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen] are coming to LA in November," Murphy told host Neil Griffiths.

"We've already got five new songs for the next album. Not that all five are gonna be on it. We'll get some more together.

"But still, next year I'll be doing writing for The Wombats and for [Love Fame Tragedy]..."
