Not long after revealing that they were in the studio recording their first album in 20 years, The Superjesus returned today with a new band lineup and announced that a new single is coming.

The new single, Money (We’re Only In It For Love), is coming next month, with more details to follow. The band has also welcomed drummer Murray Sheridan and guitarist Cam Blokland into the fold. As always, the nucleus of The Superjesus sits with Sarah McLeod (lead vocals) and bassist Stuart Rudd.

"We have had many lineup changes over the years in our quest to find the right “fit”. We’ve had it before, and when you know … you know," McLeod says about the band's new lineup. Ruddy and I have been searching for that feeling ever since. We’ve continued to tour over the years but haven’t released any new albums because we knew the band wasn’t ready."

She added, "After Covid, we dug deep and reassessed where we were and where we wanted to go with brutal honesty. We had to make some changes in order to move on, and we are grateful to Travis and Jason for their contribution to the band. Making an album is an emotional journey; it has been 20 years since our last one. We wanted to make sure that if we took this giant leap, it was with the right dynamic.

"We’ve been very lucky in finding Cam Blokland and Murray Sheridan. We knew the minute we started working together that there was magic in the room."

Rudd agrees, "Some incredibly difficult decisions were made. After our years of experience, we knew it was time to change the chemistry in the band, and we took a year or more to find the right replacements. Fortunately, we found some amazingly talented souls in Murray Sheridan and Cam Blokland."

Sheridan and Blokland were members of the band when The Superjesus created the upcoming single, Money (We’re Only In It For Love), and recorded it in Sheridan's studio.

"Having been together in the same band for over 20 years, the DNA wasn't hard to find and tapping into new creative veins would soon yield our first new single, and now we’re looking at our first new album in 20 years," Rudd said about making music with his longtime bandmate McLeod.

The Superjesus are touring Australia in January 2023, the band announced in September, bringing special guest Dallas Crane along for support.

With three ARIA Awards wins from eight nominations, two Top 10 albums, nine Top 50 hits and an induction into the South Australian Music Hall Of Fame under their belt, it's almost guaranteed that this tour will be a mind-blowing rock fest. The band are said to be touring both old hits and their most recent single, 2019's The Impossible, which showcased them in a different light.
