The Preatures frontwoman Isabella Manfredi has today shared her experiences of sexual harassment in the music industry as part of the #metoo campaign.

"My heart has been breaking for all the women who have had to deal with Harvey Weinstein’s total degradation of their talent, drive and worth as artists and human beings over the course of his career. Of course this sickness is not confined to the film industry," she begins in the statement released to the band's Facebook page.

Manfredi continues on to share personal experiences of sexual harassment and assault experience during her time in the music industry.

"I'm sharing this because I don’t want the next generation of women coming up in the music industry to face this kind of morally ambiguous, second-guess-yourself crap. It’s not on," she concludes.

Manfredi has encouraged fans to share their experiences with her "to compile our experiences, however subtle, and give it a face."

The #metoo social media campaign has gone viral in the past few days in response to the recent allegations surrounding producer Harvey Weinstein. The campaign encourages women around the world to share their experiences of sexual harassment and assault to demonstrate how widespread the issue is.

As reported by The Huffington Post Australia, the campaign has origins from over ten years ago when Just Be Inc's Tarana Burke started the campaign "as a grass-roots movement to reach sexual assault survivors in underprivileged communities."

Actress Alyssa Milano has been attributed for the rise in social media engagement over the past week.
