The Monkees Reform With Mike Nesmith

Nesmith feels he "never really left" the band.

The death of Davy Jones has not stopped surviving members of The Monkees from reforming again, but this time Mike Nesmith will join the band, his first appearance with them in 15 years.

There have been 12 US dates announced for November of this year, and Rolling Stone are reporting that the shows will feature a wide variety of songs from throughout The Monkees' career, including a number of obscure album tracks.

The last time Nesmith played with The Monkees was on a short tour of Europe in 1997 and in an interview with that publication, Nesmith says that he reconnected with the band for the first time since that tour at a private memorial service that Nesmith organised alongside other members Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork.

Nesmith goes on to say that he feels he “never really left” the band, confirmed that they won't be recording any new material and that Jones – and the songs he sang – will be honoured on the evening. As far as dates in the future are concerned, Nesmith says that he is “always interested”.
