The Kid LAROI Dominates Spotify’s 2023 Aussie Music Global Impact List

Spotify have released their Aussie Music Global Impact List for 2023 – the first of its ilk to crunch the numbers from a full year’s worth data – and in news that should surprise nobody, it’s littered with hits from The Kid LAROI.

In case its name isn’t clear enough, the annual list details the Australian songs that had the biggest impact on Spotify around the world. In a press statement, Alicia Sbrugnera – Spotify Australia’s Head of Music – described the list as “an excellent snapshot of local artists having an impact on the global stage”, and said it’s “pleasing to see that our first full-year edition contains a mix of established and emerging artists”.

She added: “We’re proud to be playing our part in helping Australia on its journey to becoming a significant exporter of music, as well as helping prove that making it big in international markets is a legitimate path to career growth and success for local artists.”

The top spot on the list actually goes to Sia, having the biggest global on Spotify with her smash hit Gimme Love. Coming in at #2 was Thundercat’s epic collab with Tame Impala, No More Lies, with The Kid LAROI’s first inclusion – I Can’t Go Back To The Way It Was (Intro) – rounding out the Top Three. He reappears on the list at #5 (with I GUESS IT’S LOVE), #9 (with his Lil Tjay collab 2 Grown), #15 (Forever & Again) and #21 (BLEED).

Other artists with more than one track on the list include Troye Sivan (with One Of Your Girls at #6, Rush at #10 and Got Me Started at #20), Dean Lewis (Trust Me Mate at #13 and the Julia Michaels-assisted In A Perfect World at #14), Dom Dolla (Saving Up at #16, the MK-assisted Rhyme Dust at #19 and the Nelly Furtado-assisted Eat Your Man at #19), Peach PRC (Perfect For You at #22 and F U Goodbye at #28) and Ruel (I DON’T WANNA BE LIKE YOU at #24 and SITTING IN TRAFFIC at #26).
