Resilient US heavyweights The Ghost Inside have announced that they will no longer be able to come to Australia to be a part of this month's scheduled Big Ass Tour, with the band needing to take time to fully recover from their recent horror bus crash, which left drummer Andrew Tkaczyk in intensive care and claimed two lives.

Taking to social media with a post recirculated by Big Ass Tour-mates The Amity Affliction, the band detailed the extent of their injuries — as well as paying tribute to the families of Greg Hoke and Steven Cunningham, the drivers who were killed in the crash — in a heartfelt, Thanksgiving-appropriate reflection of the hand dealt to them by fate and the sizable, and seemingly incredible, circle of individuals who rallied around the band in the wake of their accident.

"The truth is, there are a lot of very serious injuries," the band explained in an effort to "share a little more" about their recent ordeal. "We are dealing with badly broken legs and ankles, cracked pelvises, and fractured vertebrae that require screws, plates, rods and careful surgery to repair.

"Over the last week, most of these procedures have been completed very successfully, but there are still a couple more to go, and most of the guys are still in the hospital. It is yet another blessing that we are in a place with so many remarkable doctors and surgeons to make this possible.

"It is going to be a long road for us to quite literally be back on our feet. We have many months of recovery, rehabilitation and physical therapy ahead. For some of us, simply learning to walk again will be a monumental undertaking. For now, we must put all shows on hold and focus only on our health."

Despite The Ghost Inside's understandable withdrawal from the Big Ass Tour, The Amity Affliction has confirmed that the sojourn will "continue as scheduled" from next Thursday, 10 December, in Auckland, with options for replacement acts currently under consideration.

"Live Nation, 24Hundred and all bands and staff involved wish The Ghost Inside a speedy recovery, and hope to see them back on our shores again soon," they wrote.
