The Cure's 40th Anniversary Hyde Park London Show Coming To Aussie Cinemas

The Cure's special 40th anniversary show filmed in London last year is confirmed to be hitting cinemas around the world this year. 

Global event distributors Trafalager Releasing have confirmed to The Music today that the event will be screened in Australia on 11 July, however a local cinema chain is yet to be announced.

Filmed at Hyde Park on 8 July 2018, the iconic UK outfit took to the stage to play in front of 65,000 fans, performing all of their hits including Lovesong, Boys Don't Cry, Fascination Street and Friday I'm In Love.

“This really was the perfect way to celebrate 40 years of the band," frontman Robert Smith said.

"It was a fabulous day none of us will ever forget.”

The critically-acclaimed concert was also directed by frequent-The Cure collaborator Tim Pope, who filmed a number of the band's music videos including In Between Days, The Love Cats, Boys Don't Cry and Close To Me.

“Working alongside Robert for these 37 years of the band’s 40-year history - and also having previously filmed the band for the 35mm In Orange 1986 concert film - I wanted cinemagoers to feel like they were in the thick of the action, in the heart of the music," Pope said.

"Our film really captures the true power and passion of The Cure’s music for a global audience.”

The news comes after The Cure wrapped up headline shows at the Sydney Opera House last night in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their eighth studio album, Disintegration.
