The Butterfly Effect Announce 'Begins Here' 20th Anniversary Australian Tour
While The Butterfly Effect toured Australia in September and October 2022, this time around, they’re honouring an album we know and love very well.

Australian progressive metal outfit The Butterfly Effect will play Begins Here in its entirety for the first time in February 2024 to celebrate the album’s 20th anniversary (3 August 2003).
Taking the album across the country, fans can catch vocalist Clint Boge, guitarist Kurt Goedhart, bassist Glenn Esmond and drummer Ben Hall playing the band’s heaviest material in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra. While the press release notes that The Butterfly Effect will perform in Adelaide, no date has been given just yet. Until it is, fans can watch them headline the state’s incredible November 2023 Froth & Fury Festival.
The festival occurs on Saturday, 18 November, at Pirate Life Brewing on 18 Baker Street, Port Adelaide. The Butterfly Effect will headline Froth & Fury alongside Suicidal Tendencies, with Sunk Loto (playing Between Birth & Death in its entirety), RedHook, Windwaker, Lagerstein, Caligula’s Horse, Beyond The Black and many more on the line-up. Last year, The Butterfly Effect returned with the empathetic hard rock anthem Visiting Hours. A single from their album IV – released last September – the band were in as fine form as ever, fusing smouldering intensity and existential exploration in an emotive anthem that oozes relatability.

Seeing them in October 2022, Kill Your Stereo’s Rod Whitfield wrote that The Butterfly Effect “have lost none of their creative and technical abilities, as they play and interact with the crowd with broad and appreciative smiles on their faces, and their classic songs have lost none of their potency and gravitas.”

Begins Here acts as a turning point between the band’s 2001 self-titled EP and Imago, released in 2006, which saw the band follow a more technical direction. The heavy Begins Here went Gold in Australia after just three years. If you want to relive one of the chunkiest, most thrilling Australian metal albums in its entirety, don’t miss out on this tour.
In addition to its Gold status, Begins Here spawned four singles, One Second Of Insanity, Crave, Always and Beautiful Mine, with One Second and Always reaching #68 and #99 on triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2004, respectively. Shoulda been higher.
