The B-52's Singer Kate Pierson Gets Spooky On 'Every Day Is Halloween' With Sia

It’s October, so it’s officially spooky season, and The B-52’s vocalist Kate Pierson is celebrating the month in style, releasing a new track called Every Day Is Halloween - not a cover of the Ministry classic of the same name - with co-writer Sia on backing vocals.

This isn’t the first time that Sia has collaborated with the Love Shack star, having previously co-written and co-produced nine songs on Pierson’s 2015 solo album, Guitars And Microphones.

On working with Sia on Every Day Is Halloween, Pierson told Rolling Stone, “She’s an astounding lyricist and has the pop ears of a siren — her songs call to you and linger — she’s also fun and fast, so working with her is a joy.”

She continued, “This song was actually the first song we attempted in our writing sessions back in 2014, and we usually collaborated with a third party. In this case, Sam Dixon, who played bass in Sia’s band and who also works with Adele.

“I had some lyrics and title for the song, so we started with a bass line and came up with melodies, and then Sia fine-tuned the lyrics to fit. I remember she added the line ‘When the grave’s unsealed,’ I was like, ‘whoa, that’s really amazing!'”

The B-52’s are currently embarking on their farewell tour across the US, with Pierson preparing to release another solo album.

In September, Sia released her new single, Gimme Love and announced that her first album in eight years, Reasonable Woman, will be released via Atlantic Records in 2024. You can pre-order the album here – tangerine vinyl is strictly limited to just 500 copies.

Gimme Love is Sia’s first single since Unstoppable, while Reasonable Woman is the follow-up to 2016’s This Is Acting, which featured many tracks Sia had initially written for artists such as Rihanna, Shakira and Adele.
