The Amity Affliction have returned with the news their fans have been waiting for: the Aussie metalcore legends have a new album coming out called Not Without My Ghosts, and it will be released on Friday, 12 May. The band have also unveiled a new single, It’s Hell Down Here, to accompany the album announcement.

The Amity Affliction started teasing their new album in late November, with the release of the first single, Show Me Your God.

"Show Me Your God is the first song of our first self-produced record," the band said. "The song is the first in a series of explorations and internal meditations on how our past shapes us and interacts with our various mental struggles in the present, drawing from both personal experience and also the trauma of close friends who have passed away or who have dealt with close loved ones passing away." So, it's a familiar subject matter but no less impactful.

A few days before the band shared Show Me Your God, vocalist Joel Birch was teasing on social media, getting people excited. He gave fans the following information: the Aussie metalcore band's eighth album is done! "New album finished. Mixed. Done," Birch tweeted. He added, "[it's the] Heaviest music we've ever written."

Last month, they shared I See Dead People featuring the late New Zealand rapper Louie Knuxx, a close friend of the band who tragically passed away from a heart attack in 2021.

I See Dead People is lyrically and musically heavy, with vocalist Joel Birch discussing "the ongoing and nebulous struggle that comes with dealing with the pain of friends killing themselves, while myself dealing with passive suicidal ideation."

With no clean vocals from Ahren Stringer, the track is filled with breakdowns, blast beats, and a music video that turns ominous when Birch screams, "I am death".

The album’s ten songs were self-produced at Grove Studios in New South Wales. Talking about the record, the band share in a press release, “Not Without My Ghosts mostly deals with the paradox of not wanting to be alive, and yet needing to stay here, while also mourning the loss of friends and trying to use the music as catharsis.”

The album announcement arrives a few days after The Amity Affliction announced a major Australian tour in support of the record.

Joining the boys on tour will be special guests, including Canadian rock band Silverstein, Earth Caller and Winnerz Circle, making it a major metal affair.

Set to begin the tour in the band's hometown of Brisbane at Fortitude Music Hall; the boys will then move on to Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall, and Melbourne’s Forum, before finally wrapping up at Perth’s Metro City. Buy tickets here tomorrow.
