Sydney duo will set off for five dates in support of the upcoming 'Formula'

More Tales In Space More Tales In Space

Set phasers to funky, people – Sydney-based electro-pop twosome Tales In Space have announced that their eagerly awaited debut full-length, Formula, will be available for purchase via MGM from June 6. To mark the occasion, the pair will set off on a five-date run of shows this July that naturally takes in usual stopovers Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Building off the success of the pair's 2013 single Shades, which saw significant support from triple j, Formula further elaborates on what sets Tales In Space apart, taking listeners on an odyssey of catharsis that traverses soundscapes from the ear-wormy to the ethereal and epic.

The lads – more specifically known as Luke Bert and Simon Widauer – produced the songs of Formula in their personal studio, using the array of sonic weapons they had at their disposal (samples, loops, radios, keyboards and triggers, for example) to craft such choice cuts as the infectious Grow Up Together and atmospheric rock of In A Million Places At Once.

You can expect the rest of the album to be of a similar quality, given the pair took out the “Rock” category of the International John Lennon Songwriting Competition last year, as well as being named as finalists in the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition.

The Formula tour kicks off on Thursday, July 3, at the Black Bear Lodge in Brisbane, before heading to Sydney, Melbourne, Armidale, and ending up back in Sydney for the final show at Easy Tiger on Saturday, August 2. Oztix is handling bookings for the Brisbane and Melbourne shows, while Go-Bookem is looking after the final Sydney show. The first Sydney show is free; Armidale will sell tickets at the door.

Formula will be available for pre-sale through iTunes and the band's Facebook page from tomorrow, May 9.
