More De La Soul More De La Soul

Fans are fuming following De La Soul's show in Sydney on Friday night, after the group reportedly hit the stage over two hours late and played for less than 15 minutes before the gig was shut down due to curfew.

A number of comments from punters, who slammed the group and/or the venue on Facebook, indicate that the veteran trio were scheduled to perform at 9.30pm, however group member Maseo appeared at roughly 11.50pm and played just three songs on the decks before he was shut down.

"I'm gone man I don't care if you say it was the venue or the promoters or the law you knew exactly what was going to happen and you still turned up late and didn't do what you promised everyone," one fan commented, while another said, "No explanation given. You obviously dont [sic] give a shit about your fans. Time to hang up your mics".

Greenwood Hotel have offered all punters refunds for the show.

"The delays that occurred tonight where [sic] in the hands of the promoters and out of the Venue and Venue managements control," a statement from the North Sydney venue reads.

"However, this reflects poorly on our business, our reputation as a venue and our relationship with our customers and for that we sincerely apologise again… Rest assured we have followed up on your behalf and all tickets will be refunded."

A video posted by a fan at the show on Instagram shows Maseo in a heated argument with the man assumedly responsible for shutting the show down as security guards intervene.

"They cut off the sound half way through their [sic] thrid song and proceeded to treat their paying customers like animals," a caption posted with the video reads.

"Will never, ever forget how horrible people were treated, so embarrassing."

The Music has contacted promoters for comment.

update:

De La Soul were scheduled to perform two separate shows in Melbourne yesterday, however both sets were cancelled.

The group were scheduled to play at Carl & Eric's Mobile Disco in St Kilda in the afternoon before moving on to play at Alumbra, however statements provided on the Facebook event pages cited "unforeseen circumstances" as the reason behind the cancellations.

De La Soul are yet to comment on the matter.

Promoters have said the following in a statement given to The Music regarding Friday's show.

"Red Bull Music Academy is working with the touring agency to determine the exact details of the events that occurred on Friday evening at The Greenwood Hotel.

"We are disappointed that the fans were unable to enjoy the performance in full.

"All ticket holders have been offered a full refund and we will work with Moshtix to ensure these are completed in a timely matter."
