More Stevie Nicks More Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks becoming a Barbie doll is everything we didn’t know we needed. A music and fashion icon, the Fleetwood Mac singer and solo artist has influenced artists and listeners for generations.

The Stevie Nicks Barbie is based on Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours era; wearing an elegant black dress, teased hair, and signature knee-high boots already ensure that you know who you’re looking at, but the addition of holding the tambourine solidifies the already iconic Barbie doll.

Nicks revealed that she teamed up with Mattel for the Barbie collaboration of a lifetime on Sunday (1 October). “I have something very exciting to share with you a few hours before the rest of the world,” Nicks told the Madison Square Garden audience after performing Bella Donna, revealing that Mattel approached her a year ago, Rolling Stone reports.

Posting on Twitter yesterday (2 October), Nicks shared some photos of her new Barbie and wrote,

“My Stevie @Barbie has been with me now for several months. When Mattel came to me asking if I would like to have a Barbie made in the “Rumours” cover style I was very overwhelmed. Of course I questioned “would she look like me? Would she have my spirit? Would she have my heart…” When I look at her, I see my 27 year old self~ All the memories of walking out on a big stage in that black outfit and those gorgeous boots come rushing back~ and then I see myself now in her face. What we have been through since 1975~ the battles we have fought, the lessons we have learned~ together. I am her and she is me. She absolutely has my heart.

“Thank you Mattel for working with me to make Stevie Barbie so pretty and so soulful and so real; she means the world to me!”

At the time of writing, the Stevie Nicks Barbie doll isn’t currently available on the Mattel Australian store. You can explore the US store here.

In August, Nicks watched Daisy Jones & The Six and recalled feeling “very emotional” watching the series, detailing the wish that her Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie was still here to watch with her.

Christine McVie passed away in November 2022. She was known for penning and singing numerous Fleetwood Mac hits, including EverywhereSongbird, You Make Loving Fun and Little Lies.

McVie joined the band in 1970 and remained in the group when they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1998, but departed soon after. She returned to Fleetwood Mac in 2014 with the band's most recognisable lineup reunited.
