Revered Australian artist Stephen Cummings has confirmed he is returning to where his career began; today announcing he has signed with Mushroom Group and its imprint, Bloodlines.

To coincide with the signing news, Bloodlines has announced it will re-release The Sports' frontman's solo catalogue, as well as brand new album, Prisoner Of Love, which will be Cummings' last studio LP.

Mushroom Group Founder Michael Gudinski said of the news, "I am very proud to reunite with Stephen Cummings.

"We had our first top 40 hit in the US together! He is etched in Australian rock history, and Bloodlines is the perfect label for him."

Gudinski, who also managed The Sports, added, "At times, Stephen could be frustrating to deal with. But he has always been brilliant.

"In fact, it’s high time that ARIA recognised Stephen’s remarkable body of work and inducted Stephen Cummings and The Sports into the ARIA Hall of Fame."

Meanwhile, Cummings said joining Bloodlines for his final studio album "makes sense".

"There is something to be said for local expertise," Cummings said.

"My recording career began with Mushroom and Michael, and in these mystifying times, Mushroom and Michael seems the right place to maintain my fanbase. I need help with stuff.

"I have had my issues with Gudinski, but I am grateful for this opportunity."

To celebrate the news, Cummings will embark on a headline tour of the country this October; click on theGuide for a look at all of the dates and venues.

Prisoner Of Love is drop in February 2019.
