Splendour Closes To Camping, Parking After Rain 'Disaster'

22 July 2022 | 11:41 am | Staff Writer

It's going to be a muddy weekend.... stay safe out there people.

After a horrid night of rain at its North Byron Parklands site, Spendour in the Grass this morning announced that it is no longer accepting campers or parking onsite. For those still en route to the festival, the following has been issued:

Due to ongoing weather conditions we can no longer accept any campers or vehicles including day parking at North Byron Parklands (NBP).
All incoming camping patrons and day parkers should proceed to Byron Events Farm (BEF) at 35 Yarun Rd, Tyagarah NSW 2481
This does not include Accessible, Flashcamp and Tent City patrons who will still be accepted at NBP.
Your NBP camping ticket and parking pass will be scanned and accepted at BEF.
Free bus shuttles between BEF to NBP will be available.
We thank you for your patience here and big shout out to our staff who are working around Mother Nature to get you in here safely.
Please be kind and patient

The festival has endured a tough night, with some patrons stuck in queues of traffic and those that managed to pitch their camp sites struggling to stay dry as the mud got worse in the unrelenting downpour. Despite not being the start to the weekend organisers would have liked, staff are working keenly behind the scenes to ensure the music can go ahead and the safety of patrons is maintained. Exacerbating the issues were staff shortages, believed to be related to the current wave of COVID-19 as the music industry continues to seemingly not be able to catch a break.

A big shout out to all the team and let's hope this is just an early hiccup in an amazing weekend of live music.
