Sons Of Iron Maiden And Radiohead Members Release Collaborative Single

Dylan Gers, son of Iron Maiden guitarist Janick Gers and Noah Yorke, son of Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, have teamed up to release a stunning collaborative track, Red Skies. The song is out now via Sly Tone Records.

The song was composed by Gers (who is also the lyricist) and Yorke, with Gers on lead vocals and Yorke coming in with gorgeous harmonies, playing a 12-string guitar throughout with the addition of bass and piano. 

Dubbed a "textured folk-pop piece from singer-songwriter Dylan Gers, featuring deep harmonic textures and cryptic, enticing lyricism," the track certainly delivers. It's mysterious, layered, and a delightful surprise for fans of Iron Maiden and Radiohead - you can hear elements of both legendary bands during Red Skies.

While it's certainly not a heavy song - there is no electric guitar - it's a thrill to hear two young artists with fathers in two completely different bands arriving with a sound that's uniquely their own.

Gers released his debut single, Moon Rise, earlier this year. That track does feature electric guitar but resembles Skrting On The Surface by The Smile (Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, and Sons Of Kemet's Tom Skinner's new band) more than Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. 

Gers noted, "Writing this was an interesting task as before I had never written a song – I just played my guitar, and I was happy. The next thing I knew, I had Moon Rise completed. I was trying to find a way to let myself be heard, and that was only through music at that time." 

Yorke released his first song under his own name, Trying Too Hard (Lullaby), last year, a song Jonny Greenwood called "a glorious piece of music" that indeed resembled the melodies, vocals, and instrumentation of his father's band.
