Aussie indie rock favourites San Cisco have announced their fifth album, Under The Light, arriving on Friday, 1 March 2024.

While we have a long wait before the new LP, the beloved Fremantle trio aren’t just announcing an album and expecting fans to wait until next year – they’ve also dropped a new single, High, with a cinematic accompanying music video. You can check it out below.

Under The Light has been described as the album that “truly embodies the genuine essence of San Cisco”, according to the band, and was recorded in the first half of 2023 in LA and Fremantle.

For the new album, San Cisco enlisted producer James Ireland (Pond, Cuco), Grammy award-winning engineer Neal H. Pogue (Steve Lacy, Tyler The Creator, Outkast) and Anthony Dolhai (Mø, Carly Rae Jepsen, Kesha).

“Collaborating with our close friend and producer, James Ireland, was an exciting and fresh journey that allowed us to fully actualise our musical aspirations,” San Cisco commented in a press release. “The album was predominantly written and recorded in our studio, kitchens, and living rooms at home in Fremantle.

“This unique experience was unlike anything we've undertaken before, and we couldn't be prouder of this body of work.” You can pre-order/pre-save Under The Light here.

Featuring the new single, High, and previously released numbers like the title track, Lost Without You, Horoscope and Honeycomb, San Cisco have hinted at the new musical elements they plan to introduce throughout the album, indicating an experimental and authentic offering for their fans.

The band said about High, “The feeling of falling deeply in love is paradoxically euphoric and terrifying. It can become a breeding ground for your insecurities, what I think of as ‘lovers imposter syndrome’.

“When you find yourself besotted with such an inimitable person, we can often be left to face the fear of failure, of ‘not being good enough’ or impressive as them, leaving us entertaining the idea of falling from these newly found heights and losing it all.”

In November and December, San Cisco will embark on a national headline tour. You can find all the tour dates and venues below and purchase tickets here.
