Russell Brand Cancels Australian Show Due To Contaminated Venue

English comedian Russell Brand has cancelled his show in Perth tonight following venue concerns after a woman with COVID-19 attended a performance over the weekend. 

As reported by ABC and confirmed by Brand on Twitter, a woman in her 70s who had contracted COVID-19 on a recent trip overseas, visited the Perth Concert Hall on Saturday evening for a performance by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. 

She developed symptoms on Friday morning before attending the show and returned a positive result on Saturday evening. 

"We have to SADLY CANCEL TONIGHT'S SHOW IN #PERTH because there has been a CONFIRMED CASE OF CORONAVIRUS in someone who attended a recent show and I am not happy with [the] risk for me or for any of you," Brand wrote on Twitter. 

"My apologies, I hope I see you soon."

The woman was the fourth confirmed case of COVID-19 in WA, with the state's total currently at five. 

Brand will conclude his tour in Adelaide on 11 March.
