In September 2020, the Sydney singer launched the online TV network, Ruelvision.tv in what is the most extensive content-driven artist campaign of 2020.

Working with his creative director Grey Ghost (Jeremy Koren), the network boasts over 70 pieces of content and features music, ASMR, exercise, news, karaoke versions of Ruel’s new and back catalogue, trivia, cooking programs, painting demonstrations and more.

Ruel teased the possible release of his debut album in 2020, but without the possibility of touring and extra time to make the record whatever he wanted it to be, it's understandable that the artist held off for a while.

Appearing on The Green Room with Neil Griffiths podcast backstage at Laneway Festival this past weekend in Brisbane, the Sydney songwriter said he would write the record in Bali and LA with veteran Aussie producer M-Phazes who produced his two EPs, 2019's Free Time and 2018's Ready

"We're just coming up with cool ideas, and I'm excited just to get stuck into it, really."

Following his run on the 2020 Laneway Festival and some overseas festival dates, the then 17-year-old commented, "Man, I hope so. I really hope so," about releasing his first album.

"I've been really trying to, like, make sure this album comes out this year.

"But it all depends. I'm not gonna release it if I don't like it."
