Pop superstar Rina Sawayama has announced she will be headed to our shores next January for her debut Australian tour.

The tour will kick off at Sydney's Roundhouse on January 12th, before heading to Melbourne’s 170 Russell on January 13 and concluding at The Triffid, Brisbane on January 14.

Fresh off her US and UK headline, which received rave reviews, the British-Japanese hitmaker is ready to show Australian audiences what they have been missing out on.

The announcement comes ahead of next week's album release Hold The Girl, on the 16th of September. It's set to follow in the footsteps of her debut album SAWAYAMA, which landed on over 50 album of the year lists, including the New York Times (#2), The Guardian (#3) and Rolling Stone (#6).

The 13-tracks of Hold The Girl will feature the previously released singles This Hell, which debuted with a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, along with Catch Me In The Air and the title track Hold The Girl, which came with an Ali Kurr directed video and portrays Sawayama stuck in a time loop within the bounds of a 19th-century farmhouse until she finally breaks free.

The new album is said to go further than regular pop lyricism and delve deeper into the self, highlighting the female experience outside of a male-centric world. Packed to the brim with powerful statement songs that take the future of pop in a completely different direction, Hold The Girl is set to be the pop album of the year.

Tickets to her tour go on sale 9am, Friday September 9th.
