"I hope I don’t look like an idiot around all of the clever people."

Sydney comic Rhys Nicholson has signed on to host this year’s WA Screen Awards, the nominees of which have just been revealed.

The quick-witted favourite will take the lead at the 28th run, set to go down at Heath Ledger Theatre on Monday 4 July, and is already preparing material.

“Western Australia has such a bevy of smart and inventive artsy people. I hope I don’t look like an idiot around all of the clever people. Hopefully most of them will be distracted by my sparkly jacket and won’t ask me too many questions,” Nicholson said.

The FTI initiative was setup in an effort to shine a spotlight on WA achievement in film, short film, web series, music videos, television production, documentary, interactive productions and games.
