Are you ready for this one?! RedHook and Yours Truly are dropping the collaborative track, Imposter, next Friday, 17 April.

“Can’t think of a better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than by announcing our new collab with the legends in Yours Truly ‘Imposter’ will be dropping next Friday,” RedHook announced on social media yesterday. It’s also Women’s History Month, so we’ll be living off this number for another two weeks following its release.

The teaser released by RedHook looks to show a breakup revenge fantasy, with the vocalists of both bands, Emmy Mack and Mikaila Delgado tag-teaming to bring down an ex. We don’t know what he did yet, we just know that you shouldn’t mess with Emmy and Mikaila.

RedHook create experimental, heartfelt and attitude-filled alternative music that fuses multiple genres, including rock, rap, metalcore and electronica. Their brand of alternative metal has brought them national and international recognition, with the band featuring on The Smashing Pumpkins' first ever The World Is A Vampire festival held in Australia.

Last month, the Sydney group released their heaviest song to date in Off With Your Head, a furious track that targets the decimation of women's rights in the US and what happens when an innocent person is wrongly accused of hurting somebody.

Mack explained, "I wrote the lyrics to 'Off With Your Head' at a time when I was feeling overwhelmed, appalled, and devastated by a number of horrifying injustices going on in the world around me. Over in the US, the overturning of Roe v. Wade robbed women and girls of the fundamental right to make informed decisions about their own bodies, the consequences of which I, along with many others, knew would be deadly and devastating."

She added a more personal note, "While in my own backyard, I watched on in horror as cancel culture was weaponised by a sick person with a cruel vendetta to destroy an innocent woman I loved and admired. I felt sick with anger, and powerless to do anything about it, so I poured everything I had into this song."

In December, Yours Truly released the surprise EP, is this what i lofi?, a "chill as heck" reimagining of their recent EP is this what i look like?

"After working on an interactive game for our EP, is this what i look like? we wanted to add lo-fi versions of all our songs to the game as we all like to listen to chill lo-fi playlists while we game," the band commented about the new release.

"After hearing the tracks, we all thought ', this needs to come out as a whole EP release', and that was how is this what i lofi? came to be! People can listen to the original tracks to be hyped, but if they want something a little more chill - we have these versions now."
