More Polyphia More Polyphia

American musical virtuosos Polyphia have stunned audiences across the globe with their fusion of heavy metal, jazz, hip-hop and classical instrumentals since their formation in 2010.

Australian fans have been waiting a long time for the band to finally visit our shores, and now it’s finally time: Polyphia have announced their first-ever Australian tour, visiting Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne this June.

“We’re all very excited to be back and are looking forward to seeing all of your beautiful faces. Be ready to party!,” guitarist Scott LePage said in a statement.

Polyphia’s Australian tour follows their October 2022 album, Remember That You Will Die, which features collaborations from DeftonesChino Moreno, guitar hero Steve Vai, hip-hop group Brasstracks, Lil West, Snot, and more.

The album debuted at #72 on the ARIA Albums Chart, #33 on the US Billboard Hot 200 and #1 on the Billboard Top Rock Hard Albums Chart.

In addition to their climb up mainstream charts, Polyphia had two songs on Spotify's Viral 50 playlist in the US, with ABC featuring Sophia Black and Ego Death featuring Steve Vai capturing the #41 and #44 spots in November.

Of course: not high enough. Neither track appeared on the Australian version of the Spotify Viral 50 playlist.

The band's guitarist, Tim Henson, recently argued that it's "not really cool to be in a metal band because they don't make any money" in an interview with Guitar.com. Criticising the current state of rock music, Henson also said, "Literally every guitar-centred thing is just solos on solos on solos. We've certainly done records that were solos on solos on solos, but between them, we actually had hooks."

About their collaboration with guitar god Steve Vai, he recalled, "In 2020, Steve asked us to open for him at his NAMM show. Afterwards, we went to the DiMarzio party and got drunk and asked him, 'Okay, would you be down to feature on one of our songs?' And he was like, 'Of course!' A couple of years later, we had the song and sent him an email. And here it is."

Tickets for Polyphia’s debut Australian tour go on sale next Thursday, 23 March, at 9 am local time. You can buy them here.
