Piperlain are releasing their powerful and personal folk-rock concept album Mother Mourned, recounting their experiences as carers to their seriously ill mothers.

Only after they began collaborating did songwriters Benjamin Knight and Rebecca Voorn-Knight discover that they had experienced similar childhoods caring for their mothers, one with multiple sclerosis and one with schizophrenia. It was through this discovery that they decided to pour their experiences into a deeply emotional and raw album which is due for release Apr 30.

The Blue Mountains duo are as poetic and quirky as they are emotive and deep. The work they've created is a true reflection of their experiences and "although [they] were different, they were both highly emotional".

The next opportunity to catch them live will be UBERfest! independent music festival in Sydney Apr 2 among other performers Dynasty of Gringo and Green Eden.
