Hurdles can often arise when a local band films a music video, something Perth’s Stillwater Giants discovered first-hand during their latest production.

While filming a clip for new single Montage, the band were pulled up by police who issued a fine for being on the water in an unregistered boat.

The music video was initially going to be filming in the one take, but that idea dissolved when they were approached during the final scene – all of which was caught on film.

Drummer Angus Watkins said Marine Safety were waiting for them when they jumped into bassist Kyle Lockye’s boat.

“After some failed negotiations we realised they were going to give us a fine so we thought screw it, let’s stage one more take as the guy hands it to us,” Watkins said.

“[The police] had no idea what the hell we were doing.”

The alternative indie-rock outfit are set to launch their new record, Munich, in July.
