2023 marks 20 years of Parkway Drive being a band. On Saturday, the band wrote on social media, “To celebrate our 20 year anniversary, we are going deep into the archives.

We’ll be sharing unseen footage, old stories and other rare content. Stay tuned!”

The Aussie heavy metal heroes have kicked off their 20th-anniversary celebrations by sharing a remastered version of their first documentary, 2009’s The DVD, which you can watch for free via YouTube below.

The DVD, directed by drummer Ben Gordon and live video director Dylan Etherington, contains the following synopsis: “THE DVD is a 70-minute documentary following the rise of the Australian metal-core juggernauts Parkway Drive.

"The film follows the quintet from humble beginnings on the beaches of the NSW North Coast to storming stages all over the world. Part documentary, part extreme-sports video, part live footage...all metal!”

Parkway Drive also commemorated their 20th anniversary at Knotfest Australia last month. “They made sure to mention it, with Winston even changing the lyrics in Dedication from ‘12 years’ to ‘20 years’ to honour the milestone,” our reviewer noted about the band’s appearance at Knotfest in Brisbane.

The review of Parkway’s performance concluded, “As they gathered on the stage to take bows, Ben Gordon grabbed the mic and said, ‘I’ve never done this in the 20 years we’ve been together as a band’, and began to sing the praises of Winston, who was visibly crying at this point.

"Overcome with the gravity of the moment and the emotion; it was plain to see that this means everything to the band, and punched through an encore of Crushed and Wild Eyes. 100% worthy of entry into the pantheon of the metal gods.” You can check out our reviews of Knotfest Brisbane and Sydney here and here.
