Paramore have given new credence to the rumours claiming their breakup is imminent, having disappeared from the face of the Internet.

Earlier today (December 27), the band wiped their Twitter and Instagram pages free from all posts, and deleted their profile and cover photos across all social media platforms. It comes after the band completed a world tour in support of their sixth album, This Is Why (which arrived back in February of this year), thus completing their contracted obligations with (now former) label Atlantic Records.

Upon announcing their independence earlier this month, Paramore wrote in a group statement (which has since been deleted) that they felt “a level of uncertainty” towards the prospect of the band continuing.

Comments from the members’ individual accounts gave fans hope, though, as NME reported that frontwoman Hayley Williams added to the statement, “The only thing that matters is we will still get to be each other’s community.” In a comment of his own, drummer Zac Farro reportedly shared the sentiment: “I just hope we can keep building the Paramore empire and then rule the world.”

October saw Paramore follow This Is Why up with an “almost remix” album, Re: This Is Why, which featured a collection of reworked, rewritten and remixed versions of the original LP’s ten songs.

In a glowing review of the band’s recent Brisbane (Meanjin) show, Anna Rose wrote that Paramore delivered “pop-punk for the ages”, performed with “transcendent energy”. Monique La Terra shared the sentiment when she reviewed the Melbourne (Naarm) date of the tour, writing: “After a five-year hiatus, Paramore have resurfaced as a more refined version of themselves, and it turns out that evolution suits them. It seems they have found the sonic sweet point between musically ambitious and self-assured fluidity.”
