"Some of us have to grow up sometimes..."

More Paramore More Paramore

Paramore have quietly changed the album cover to their 2013 self-titled album on streaming services; the original artwork included ex-bassist Jeremy Davis.

Fans quickly noticed the change on Spotify and Apple Music and posted to Twitter. One fan posted screenshots of the new album cover of vocalist Hayley Williams with her back facing the camera donning a denim jacket with the words "Grow Up" spray-painted on it - the original back cover on the CD - and said, "the new, revamped paramore album cover".

Other fans said, "paramore changing the cover of their self titled album to just have hayley is so fucking funny to me," and "WAIT THEY FR CHANGED THE ALBUM COVER FOR PARAMORE SELF TITLED THATS SO SICK I LOVE THIS FOR THEM!!!".

The change in artwork seems to be pointed at Davis, who left the band acrimoniously for the third time in 2015.

Davis sued Williams and guitarist Taylor York, claiming he didn't receive adequate financial compensation for his contributions and subsequently slammed Williams on social media.

Paramore then argued that Davis was an employee of the band and wasn't entitled to receive various other revenue streams like merch sales and touring profits. The band's lawyer said that "everything has been resolved and settled".

However, on a personal level, bridges were burned. On Paramore's 2017 album, After Laughter, the band explored exhaustion, depression and anxiety while the music provided a sunny '80s pop vibe. In a few songs, Williams addressed the unfriendly exit and subsequent legal entanglements with Davis, plus the loss of a friend. After Laughter was created by Williams, York, and returning drummer Zac Farro.

The band is releasing their sixth album, This Is Why, on 10 February 2023 - the record will be their first in six years and the first to feature the same lineup as its predecessor. Paramore released the title track as the lead single alongside the album announcement in late September.

We guess Williams wasn't kidding when she sang, "Some of us have to grow up sometimes / And so / If I have to I'm going to leave you behind".
