More Orpheus Omega More Orpheus Omega

Aussie metal outfit Orpheus Omega are independently releasing their new EP, Portraits on 20 April.

With a career spanning four acclaimed albums three EPs and countless tour cycles both domestically and abroad, the band have cemented themselves as one of the hardest-working and entertaining mainstays of the Australian metal scene.

To celebrate the new EP, Orpheus Omega bring their chaotic and introspective performance to the Evelyn Hotel in Fitzroy on 6 May for a one-night-only concert. Playing their new release in its entirety alongside some deep cuts and classics, the night is set to be one to remember.

Portraits is a unique 5-track EP with every member contributing one song each in its entire vision and execution, creating the most eclectic and unique release from Orpheus Omega to date.

With collaboration and features from an incredible cast of musicians including Andy Gillion (Andy Gillion/ Ex-Mors Principium Est), Bjorn ‘Speed’ Strid (Soilwork/Night Flight Orchestra), Jukka Pelkonen and Markus Vanhala (Omnium Gatherum) and Jim Grey (Caligula’s Horse), this release encapsulates a truly raw and honest vision of each member of the band and their story so far.

A few months ago, members of Orpheus Omega got behind Sunny Death Metal, a PSA about skin cancer awareness.

The Sunny Death Metal mission statement reads:

"There are too many love songs about the sun. This pro-sun propaganda makes people think the sun is friendly and nice.

"But that is a lie. The truth is the sun causes melanoma.

"Last year, more than 16,000 people were diagnosed, and 1375 are expected to die. Melanoma is the most common cancer for young Australians.

"No, the sun is not love. The sun is a fiery ball of death that rains cancer upon us.

"Check yourself and protect yourself. Heed this warning."
