Oasis, Foreigner, Sade, Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige Lead Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 15 nominees for induction in 2024, with the inductees to be revealed in April ahead of the ceremony later this year.

Oasis, Sade, Foreigner, Mariah Carey and Mary J Blige are just some of the acts nominated for induction this year, as well as the late Sinéad O'Connor, Ozzy Osbourne (he was previously inducted as a member of Black Sabbath in 2006), A Tribe Called Quest, Lenny Kravitz, Kool & The Gang, Peter Frampton, Jane’s Addiction, Eric B & Rakim, Dave Matthews Band, and Cher.

This year’s ceremony will be held in Cleveland, streamed live on Disney+, and aired on ABC in the US at a later date.

Ten of the 15 nominees for potential induction are on the ballot for the first time, including Carey, Sade, Cher, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Ozzy Osbourne, Lenny Kravitz, Kool & The Gang, Oasis and Sinéad O'Connor.

In a statement, John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said, “This remarkable list of Nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honours and celebrates.

“Continuing in the true spirit of Rock & Roll, these artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.”

Last year, Missy Elliott made history as the first female rapper to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She was inducted alongside Kate Bush, Rage Against The Machine, Sheryl Crow, George Michael, Willie Nelson and The Spinners.

The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame also inducted Chaka Khan and Elton John’s songwriter, Bernie Taupin, for the Musical Excellence Award alongside producer Al Kooper. Rock guitarist Link Wray and DJ Kool Herc were honoured with the Musical Influence Award, while Soul Train's Don Cornelius posthumously received the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
