"I still don’t believe that it is real."

More Merci, Mercy More Merci, Mercy

Sydney singer-songwriter Merci, Mercy - Mercedes Thorne - has today announced a brand new joint partnership that sees her signing with both Capital Records US and EMI UK.

“Signing with Capital Records and EMI (UK) is an extraordinary achievement for me. I still don’t believe that it is real," Thorne said of the announcement.

"The first time meeting the team at Capital and EMI over Zoom I just fell in love. They liked me for me and they really understood what I wanted to do with my music. I feel so incredibly lucky that I now have some more incredible people on my team!”

The deal will allow Thorne's music to gain more traction overseas while remaining with Liberation Records for all her Australia and New Zealand dealings.

Managing Director of Liberation - Damian Slevison - shares Thorne's enthusiasm for the news, adding, “We’re very excited to enter into this partnership with the Capitol US and EMI UK teams.

"Their passion for Merci, Mercy’s music has been constantly energising and we look forward to further building her global career with such experienced and driven teams.”

The performer celebrated the news by dropping her new track Winnie Crush - the first release under the new deal.

Thorne spoke of the inspiration for the new track, saying, “Winnie Crush is a song about a toxic relationship that I have with myself. These bad habits that I’m letting take control over my life. I can barely afford what is good for my body let alone what’s bad for it. In this mind of mine I’ve tricked myself to believe that this is what’s good for me, that it’s something that makes me happy. I can’t afford to do this to myself anymore, I can’t afford a love that doesn’t exist.”
