Northlane have doubled down on both the electronic and heavy sounds they've made their own and dropped new single and video Carbonized, and announced that their album release date for Sixth Album 'Obsidian' has been pushed to April 22, 2022. Carbonized is a warning to abusers and predators - that their day is coming and that they WILL be held accountable.

More Northlane More Northlane

Trailblazing Australian heavy act Northlane have dropped “Carbonized”. It will be the final track before the band release their hugely anticipated sixth album, Obsidian. Due to ongoing supply chain issues (god damn it, Adele!), Obsidian will now be released on April 22 via Believe.

“Carbonized” demands abusers and predators be held accountable (and frankly, hell yeah, GTFO). Marcus Bridge's primal growl screams about hunting offenders out of the shadows and into the harsh light of day. If that makes you uncomfortable - well, that’s the point.

Bridge elaborates: “We need to start holding predators and abusers accountable for the awful things they have done. Time and time again, the phrase 'separate the artist from the art' is used to discount and deflect the damage these people (often men in a position of power) have inflicted on those around them. Whether it's manipulating minors or putting a hit out on your wife, it shocks me that fans will forget all about it because their latest track is really heavy. Stand with the victims, not the artists continuing their careers as if nothing ever happened. This song is a reminder.”

OOF. That lyric "AND YOU CALL YOURSELF A MAN?"

Emboldened by the success of their 2019 award-winning album, Alien, Northlane’s new offering, Obsidian, is their most expansive and dynamic album yet. Self-recorded and self-produced with the help of their longtime collaborator Chris Blancato, the sound Northlane have been working towards over the span of their career has been fully realised on Obsidian. Sonically spanning the gamut of their entire discography, Northlane’s trademark heavy comfortably coexists with techno, drum and bass, intriguing synths, perplexing time signatures and widescreen choruses. It's this fearless evolution that keeps Northlane light years ahead of everyone else in heavy music.

Northlane will debut Obsidian live in June. Their first Australian headline tour in close to three years will take in metro cities around the country with special guests Plini, Sleep Token and ALT. With sold out signs slapped up immediately in Sydney and Melbourne, new shows have been added in both cities to meet demand, with a warning that tickets for all other shows are selling fast.

Before that, this weekend Northlane will play their first shows since February 2020, including headlining the inaugral Full Tilt in Melbourne.
