Nirvana Celebrate 30 Years Of 'In Utero' By Releasing Two Previously Unheard Live Albums

Nirvana will celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary of their third and final album, In Utero, on 27 October 2023.

The 30th-anniversary edition of In Utero won’t just be a newly remastered version of the album on streaming services; instead, Nirvana will unveil an epic collection of previously unheard material coming in a variety of formats.

53 previously unheard recordings – two live albums and numerous demos – are attached to the release, as well as the original twelve-track album remastered by Bob Weston, bonus tracks and B-sides.

The 30th-anniversary edition of In Utero will arrive digitally, and as a super deluxe 8LP box set, a 5CD box set, an LP and ten-inch vinyl edition and a 2CD version. New merchandise and versions of the classic album are available to pre-order now via the Nirvana website.

Pitchfork reports that the previously unheard live albums are the band’s penultimate show in Seattle (1994), and their 1993 Live In Los Angeles concert album. The live recordings were reconstructed from soundboards of the era by recording engineer Jack Endino.
