The Easter long weekend is here and Melbourne group Pagan are once again throwing their annual event, The Holy Communion, this year taking place at Brunswick's Stay Gold.

Along with Pagan, there will be performances from Batz, Outright, Blind Girls, No Haven and Boundless, and attendees are asked to come dressed in red.

"The Holy Communion is an annual party that we have started throwing to allow us to curate an evening of culture and music that excites and inspires us," shares bass player Dan Bonnici.

"The idea for the event basically came from us attending familial events as kids, usually because someone was receiving some sort of religious sacrament. The event is both a mockery of the religious aspect of those gatherings, but also a celebration of the cultural aspects - the drinking, the food, the music and dancing, the good hair and bad outfits, hence the dress code.

"To be honest, it just so happened that the Holy Communion fell on Good Friday as part of the routing for our Evil Eye Tour of Australia. That said, our first ever show was on Good Friday 2015 so the day is quite significant for us," he continues. "We’ll be celebrating four years as a band at this show in our home of Melbourne, so you know we’ll be cutting pretty sick!

"Stay Gold seemed like the perfect social club to host this year’s Holy Communion. It’s at the top end of Sydney Road; one of Melbourne’s finest cultural hubs, famous for espresso bars, good cheap food and Franco Cozzo. They also have the amazing Spitfire restaurant out front so we can be sure that all in attendance can party on a full stomach. That’s very important to us!"
