Mr. Bungle have announced The Raging Wrath Of Australia & New Zealand, a massive theatre tour heading to six Australasian cities over the first half of next March.

The tour will mark Mr. Bungle’s first time ever performing in New Zealand, as well as their first Australian tour in nearly a quarter of a century. The last time the Mike Patton-fronted band hit stages Down Under was in March of 2000, when they toured in support of their 1999 album California.

This trek will kick off in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland on Sunday March 3, when Mr. Bungle take over the Town Hall theatre. They’ll head to Naarm/Melbourne next, playing Festival Hall the following Wednesday (March 6) before rounding out that week with shows in Kaurna/Adelaide (where they’ll play the night after, Thursday March 7, at the Hindley Street Music Hall), Eora/Sydney (Saturday March 9 at the Hordern Pavilion) and Meanjin/Brisbane (Sunday March 10 at the Fortitude Music Hall). Finally, they’ll perform at Metro City in Boorloo/Perth on Tuesday March 12.

Joining the band for all six dates will be the generational punk icons in Melvins, who themselves have released four albums since their last Australian tour in 2017: Pinkus Abortion Technician in 2018, Working With God and Five Legged Dog in 2021, and Bad Mood Rising in 2022.

Tickets go on sale at 11am local time this Thursday (November 23), following a Live Nation pre-sale that will kick off at the same time on Wednesday (November 22). Head here for more info on both sales.

The tour comes in support of Mr. Bungle’s fourth album, The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny Demo, which arrived in October of 2020. A re-recording of the eponymous demo tape from 1986, it united Patton and fellow founding members Trey Spruance (guitars and keys) and Trevor Dunn (bass) with Scott Ian of Anthrax (who played rhythm guitar) and Dave Lombardo of Slayer (who played drums and glockenspiel).

In a 3.5-star review of the LP, Rod Whitfield wrote: “It may not be an album of completely brand new material, as some may have been expecting and hoping for, but after more than 20 years, anything new from these legends will be welcomed with a cheesy grin and wide open arms.”
