“'Five Star Laundry,' when it’s said and done, is Motor Ace.”

More Motor Ace More Motor Ace

A staple of the 2000s Australian rock scene, Melbourne alt four-piece Motor Ace burst onto the scene with the massive 2001 LP, Five Star Laundry.

While circumstances may prevent the group from celebrating the certified ARIA Gold record 20 years to the day, the band have announced they'll be hitting the road next year for a huge national tour.

Five Star Laundry, when it’s said and done, is Motor Ace,” lead vocalist Patrick Robertson said of the release.  “As you’d expect from a bunch of twenty year olds, perhaps it lacks a little sophistication here and there. But for me, Five Star Laundry truly captures on record, the ‘all-in’ energy and the desperation of four guys trying to make a mark.

He continued, "It was our first record and we didn’t take it for granted, we knew it may be our one and only opportunity. The first record has an advantage over the others - songs are written over a longer period of time and can be fine tuned at live shows. But also, the songs are free from the burden of expectation. And this is true of the excitement and naive energy of this record. We poured everything into it without distraction or second guessing ourselves. I think this is the main reason it has stood the test of time and resonates strongest with fans of the band.”

The band will head to Fremantle, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide and Melbourne throughout June next year to commemorate their release, which was swiftly followed up by the 2002 #1 record, Shoot This.Their massive success in the country saw them playing alongside the likes of Oasis, Blink-182 and Foo Fighters as support.

Tickets will go on sale from 1pm this Friday, 08 October. Head to theGuide for more info.
