Band urge fans to stream service.

More Motorhead More Motorhead

Following the tragic death of iconic Motorhead frontman Ian Fraser "Lemmy" Kilmister last week, a memorial service for the singer and bassist will be held this weekend and the band are urging fans to watch via a live stream on YouTube.

While family and close friends will be invited to the service taking place at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Hollywood this Saturday (Sunday Australian time), Motorhead are asking fans to not attend the service, but rather watch online.

"With such limited space available on-site, we respectfully ask that you don’t attend the cemetery," a statement on the band's Facebook page read.

"...but we want you ALL to be a part of this, so we are setting up a live feed of the service via the internet on Motörhead’s official You Tube channel."

The service is to commence at 3pm PST (10am EST) and will conclude at 4.30pm PST (11.30am EST).

"So wherever you are, PLEASE get together and watch the service with fellow Motorheadbangers and friends," the statement reads.

"GO to your favorite bar, or your favorite club, make sure they have access to an internet connection and toast along with us. Or simply invite your pals around and celebrate Lemm’s life at home."

The service follows news that Motorhead will be disbanding after 40 years following Kilmister's death.

Kilmister passed away at the age of 70 on 28 December after being diagnosed with an "extremely aggressive cancer" just two days earlier.
