"Feeling the moment for Women in Dance Music, girls to the front!"

More Mell Hall More Mell Hall

South Australian producer Mell Hall has just made ARIA history, with her massive single Knock Knock staying at number one in the club charts longer than any other tune from a female-identifying artist.

Hall - who hit the charts for the first time back in August - was the first woman to rise to the top spot in almost 13 years. The collaborative track with Sydney singer-songwriter Thandi Phoenix has gained huge critical and commercial success, now sitting in peak position for a total of eight weeks.

"So grateful to see my debut record getting so much love," Hall stated of the achievement.

"Knock Knock was a joy to make, a joy to work with Thandi Phoenix and knowing that it brings audiences and my peers alike joy, what more could a girl want!?

"Big love to Team Sweat for the endless support. Feeling the moment for Women in Dance Music, girls to the front!"

The ARIA board also extended their congratulations to the musician, saying, "It’s very exciting to see Mell Hall continue to break barriers, make history and represent women in dance music in such a fantastic way. Congratulations from all of us at ARIA, we can’t wait to dance again!"

Hall has remained humble on the whole affair from the jump. When the song hit number one for the first time, she said, “I knew Knock Knock was something special from day one, but never expected this result! When I found out I was the first female debut number one in 13 years - gobsmacked - truly honoured, there’s been some tears!"
