More The Meanies More The Meanies

Legendary Aussie punk group The Meanies have announced their next record, Desperate Measures, will drop this July.

The announcement from the local favourites follows on from a huge 2019, which saw them embark on a headline tour to celebrate their 30th anniversary, and is accompanied by lead single Cruel To Be Caned.

Desperate Measures is an album title for the times, whether it be applicable to the rise of right-wing anti-intellectualism, the associated denial of impending environmentally apocalyptic disaster or the cultural lobotomy of today's popular media,” frontman Link Meanie said.

“It's hard to see a way through this miasma of illogical negativity without… (drum roll)... desperate measures.”

The new album will be the band’s first since 2015 comeback record It’s Not Me, It’s You.

Check out Cruel To Be Caned below, the first single that sees bassist Wally Meanie on lead vocal duties.
