Marcia Hines is returning to Australian Idol next week, with American Idol runner-up and current Queen vocalist Adam Lambert set to perform on the Idol stage in an exclusive performance later this season.

Heading to the episodes featuring live audiences, Marcia Hines will join Harry Connick Jr, Kyle Sandilands and Amy Shark. She was the warmest judge on the panel during Australian Idol's original run from 2003 to 2009 and accompanies the current judges during a difficult stage: whittling down the group of 50 contestants.

"I’ve always thought constructive criticism is the way to go because that’s how I was taught coming up. The contestants are very brave because they are basically plucked from obscurity and placed in everybody’s living room. I know it’s not easy," she said in a statement (per TV Tonight).

Hines added, "The most important thing in anything you do is to be prepared. Be overly prepared. It can’t hurt. When your nerves take over and you can’t even think, if you are prepared, you will get through it."

Adam Lambert is also set to appear on Australian Idol, although no date has been set just yet.

The Ghost Town singer said, "I can’t wait to be in Australia again and perform on Australian Idol. Counting down the days until I’m there!"

Lambert will perform his cover of the Bonnie Tyler classic, Holding Out For A Hero, which will feature on his upcoming cover album, High Drama. The album will be released on 24 February and contains tracks originally by Duran Duran, Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey, and more.

The First Look Idol trailer, unveiled last month, followed the announcement of Marcia Hines rejoining Australian Idol as a guest judge. "I'm returning to Australian Idol in 2023 as a guest judge!" she said. "I feel honoured to have been asked to come back. Australian Idol is a great vehicle for uncovering some fantastic Australian talent. What a ride!"
