Malevolence Draw 'The Biggest Circle Pit' Metalheads Have Ever Seen For An Opening Act

Sheffield metalcore kings Malevolence blew open circle pits yesterday, opening for US heavy metallers Trivium alongside German extreme metal band Heaven Shall Burn, with an Instagram user describing what they saw as, "The biggest circle pit I have ever seen for an opening band" (via Louder Sound).

Trivium's show at the Eventim Apollo (also known as the Hammersmith Apollo) was their first concert in London in almost five years - they had to push back a 2021 UK tour to January 2023 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and corresponding government restrictions.

Malevolence played a set primarily focused on their 2022 album, Malicious Intent with Higher Place, Life Sentence, the title track, On Broken Glass, and Still Waters Run Deep played for the keen audience. The band also performed Keep Your Distance and Remain Unbeaten from their 2020 EP, The Other Side, and the title track from the Self Supremacy EP, per Setlist.fm.

Malevolence will be performing at the inaugural edition of Knotfest Australia this March. Knotfest in Melbourne already completely sold out three months ahead of the event, we revealed last month.

The official Knotfest Australia Facebook page notes that the Sydney edition is selling fast, and Brisbane is already up to the final tickets. Demand is high for heavy metal music throughout the country. 

Knotfest Australia is only a few months away and features the world's current biggest metal bands. Malevolence will be joined by Slipknot, Parkway Drive, Megadeth, Trivium, Northlane, Amon Amarth, In Flames, Knocked Loose, Spiritbox, Story Of The Year, Alphawolf, Void Of Vision, and Bad Omens. 

Slipknot created Knotfest in 2012. From the original event in Iowa - where else? - the festival quickly expanded to Japan in 2014. Knotfest has also stopped in Canada, Germany, Mexico, Colombia and France. 

The event is lovingly dubbed an immersive, unforgettable, ‘dark carnival experience’ that invites you into Slipknot’s apocalyptic underworld where stunning visuals, fire breathers and nightmarish creatures on stilts set the stage for an intoxicating and memorable weekend of live music.
