Disgraced former Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins has launched an application to have his 35 year jail sentence for child sex offences reduced.

According to the BBC, the Welsh musician's legal team lodged the application for the appeal two days ago.

Watkins was sentenced to 29 years in jail and six in the community under license, after pleading guilty to 13 sex offences, including charges of infant rape. Two women were also sentenced in the case, to 14 and 17 years in jail but cannot be named for legal reasons.

Lostprophets officially announced their split in the wake of the case last October. They formed in 1997.
