It's like the Fight Club of the art scene, except we can talk about it.

The world's largest live art event, Secret Walls, is set to bring its artist-v-artist battles to Sydney and Melbourne this year for an event unlike any other.

Armed with only a black marker/black paint and a blank wall, artists — working individually or in teams — have 90 minutes to duke it out for glory in a competition to create unique pieces, test their skills and form bonds that will last a lifetime.

Billed as 'the Fight Club of the art scene', Secret Walls (formerly Secret Wars) takes its inspiration from Marvel Comics, illustration and graffiti, and has chalked up more than 2000 shows over 80 cities, 40 countries and 12 years of award-winning events.

Since the series' origins in a small East London bar, artists who have taken part in previous battles include the likes of Ron English, Tristan Eaton, Lauren YS, Buff Monster, Greg Mike, Nychos and many more, and has spread to cities from New York and Toronto to Berlin, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Copenhagen, Los Angeles and Amsterdam.

The upcoming Australian bouts will take place at The Vic, in Melbourne, on Monday 6 November, before heading up to Sydney's Standard Bowl on Thursday 9 November.

Tickets for both are on sale now, with $10 early-bird deals available before prices go up to (a still perfectly reasonable) $20.
