More LANKS More LANKS

Ascendant Melburnian artist LANKS is following up an accomplished year by getting 2017 off to a promising start by freshly signing with esteemed local company Native Tongue Music Publishing, the parties have announced.

The buzzworthy muso, also known as Will Cuming, is building on the momentum that generated behind him on the back of securing an international booking deal with esteemed US agency CAA, as well as supporting acclaimed contemporaries such as Ngaiire and Vera Blue.

New six-track EP Viet Rose landed in October, sporting collaborative efforts with Tom Iansek (Big Scary) and Airling, and bringing with it the added boon of recent single Holla, which has steamed ahead to become his most successful cut to date.

Native Tongue managing director Jamie Gough is well aware of LANKS' many talents, explaining that he and the agency's team have "been big fans of Will's music for a while now, and are extremely excited about his future as a writer and producer".

"He's a real talent, and we look forward to playing a pivotal role in his development," Gough said in a statement.

LANKS is understandably pretty stoked about the whole situation too, effusing in a statement: "I'm so excited to start the next chapter in my journey as a songwriter and artist. I went to the Native Tongue writing camp late in 2016 and their culture around the making of great art was always the first priority."

"They were compassionate about their writers and artists, and I was immersed in a group of hard-working and talented people," LANKS said. "I knew immediately they were the right fit to go with. People sign with them and stay with them and only have positive things to say. I'm very excited to get started and grow together."

The first chapter in the wake of establishing the partnership will get truly cracking in a couple of weeks' time, when LANKS sets off as RÜFÜS' NSW tour support for a trio of shows from Wednesday 25 January.

He also has dates lined up in February (for the 'Viet Rose x Grand Piano' show at Hawthorn Arts Centre) and March, when he supports Toro Y Moi as part of the Perth Festival.
