Ohio metal outfit The Plot In You have announced that they’ll be hitting Australia and New Zealand next month for their first-ever headline tour.

The band released their fifth full-length album Swan Song in September 2021. Swan Song stares down at years of negativity, soured friendships, disappointment, and mistakes and flushes it all away in the wake of hammering distortion, towering melodies, cinematic production, and unapologetically cathartic lyrics.

After racking up over 100 million streams and receiving praise from Billboard, Rock Sound, Alternative Press, and more, The Plot In You will return to Australia for the first time since a groundbreaking 2018 run in support of Polaris

They will be joined on the Aussie run by progressive post-hardcore heavyweights ERRA and Australia's own Deadlights

With both bands incorporating elements of 00s post-hardcore, emo and metalcore into their soundscapes, we asked The Plot In You vocalist Landon Tewers (who will also be performing solo shows during The Plot In You run) for a list of acts from the 00s emo/post-hardcore era that have inspired the music of The Plot In You.

Five 00s Emo/Post-Hardcore Acts That Have Inspired The Plot In You

Underoath

"My first one is Underoath for sure. That was like, honestly my favourite band and they were the first band that I ever listened to that was like screaming in general, and I just thought that was insane and it didn't make any sense, but I liked it."

Norma Jean

"Norma Jean, I was super into Norma Jean. I found Norma Jean through Underoath because they were always touring together. They were kind of in a similar vein. They were the first heavy, heavy band that I thought was cool."

The Chariot

"The Chariot were doing similar things- that loud, chaotic energy. It was like the live show that got me into them"

Hawthorne Heights

"It was like they were doing the super emo stuff. I liked what they were singing about and they also had heavy parts and I thought that was unique and cool"

The Used

"The Used are a classic. They had incredible choruses and really catchy songs with also some really intense screamy stuff too."
