Self-described “Yolŋu surf rock” icons King Stingray have collaborated with the perfect brand to release their merchandise, teaming up with beachwear clothing brand Billabong.

The expansive collection showcases t-shirts, board shorts, swimsuits, polo shirts, kids’ wear, tank tops, tote bags and hats, allowing King Stingray fans to rep the band however they please.

In a statement, Billabong’s Instagram post about the collaboration reads, “A celebration of culture, community and connection.

“This is our newest collaboration with King Stingray, which supports the Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation’s Sea Country programs, targeting marine debris removal in north-east Arnhem Land.”

Wearing the new exclusive merchandise, singer-songwriter Emily Wurramura took to Instagram and shared a series of photos of her family wearing the new Billabong meets King Stingray clothes.

“We’re a King Stingray household for sure,” she wrote. “Thanks King Stingray x Billboard Australia for the goodies, perfect timing for it, summer in Lutruwita (Tasmania) sure can be spicy kinda reminds me of being in NT sometimes”.

This March, King Stingray will be in Tasmania to headline Holy Holy’s Tim Carroll and Dan Rooke’s event, A Festival Called PANAMA, leading a stacked line-up that boasts the likes of The Beths, Kaiit, Emily Wurramura, Jen Cloher and T’HONI, Mildlife, Full Flower Moon Band, Elsy Wameyo, Gut Health, and many more.

2023 saw King Stingray take home more awards (to add to their ARIA Award and Australian Music Prize), dominating the Song Of The Year and Film Clip Of The Year categories with their song, Let’s Go, at the National Indigenous Music Awards (NIMAs).

They also took home three awards at last year’s AIR Awards, including the Breakthrough Independent Artist Of The Year award (presented by PPCA), Best Independent Rock Album Or EP and Independent Album Of The Year; the latter two wins both came courtesy of their eponymous debut, which arrived in August 2022.
