Aussie progressive rock-meets-metal icons Karnivool will embark on a national tour this May and June, but there’s one thing fans would have noticed straight away: there’s no Perth date noted on their itinerary.

However, the rockers advised their hometown fans to “relax” and vowed to announce something for Perth soon.

Kenny, Drew, Hoss, Jon and Steve will trek across Australia for the first time since their 2022 mini-festival dates, the Monolith Tour, beginning the upcoming Tri-Continental Drift run at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Friday, 24 May, before heading to Sydney’s Liberty Hall (Saturday, 25 May), Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre (Thursday, 30 May), Frankston’s The Pier (Friday, 31 May) and close the tour at Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on Saturday, 1 June.

On the lack of WA dates, the band quipped in a press release, “PS: Relax Perth, we live here. We will sort something out for you, too, just when we have a bit more time!”

Hopefully, it’s something extra special for the hometown crowd. Tickets to Karnivool’s upcoming Australian tour go on sale at 9 am tomorrow (AEDT) via the band’s website.

The group’s forthcoming dates come ahead of their appearance at the 21st edition of the UK’s premier rock and metal music festival, Download Festival. Karnivool take the Opus Stage on Saturday, 15 June, between sets from Pantera, Tom Morello, While She Sleeps, Alien Weaponry, and more.

Karnivool are set to take over Europe following their Download gig, with performances scheduled at Denmark’s Copenhell and France’s iconic Hellfest.

In a live review of August 2022’s Monolith Festival, The Music reviewer Sam Wolstenholme declared that “Somehow, Karnivool sound even better live than they do on record – their live mix is perfection, and they’re impeccably tight” before adding “Closing with recent single All It Takes and a final hurricane of energy with Fade, tonight Karnivool have shown us, in no uncertain terms, why they are one of the best bands Australia has ever produced.”
