More Jordan Rakei More Jordan Rakei

Critically acclaimed songwriter Jordan Rakei is set to feature on a compilation album from the world's biggest jazz label alongside a string of major global names.

Blue Note Records, which released works from music legends including Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, has teamed with Decca Records to release the Blue Note Re:imagined collection which sees some of its classic tracks reworked and re-recorded by names today like Shabaka Hutchings, Ezra Collective, Jorja Smith and London-based, Brisbane-raised songwriter Jordan Rakei.

With the album set for release on 25 September, Rakei's cover of Donald Byrd's 1975 song, Wind Parade, is set for release on 28 August.

Blue Note Re:imagined celebrates some of this iconic label’s finest jazz recordings, through the eyes of some of today’s finest jazz artists," Decca Head of A&R Rachel Holmberg said.

"Many of the artists involved have grown up listening to the legendary Blue Note catalogue and for many it inspired them to get into music in the first place."

The news comes only months after Rakei, who released his third album Origin last year, took out Songwriter Of The Year at APRA AMCOS' London award series.
