A music icon is heading to our shores for just one Australian exclusive show. John Fogerty, founding member and vocalist of Creedence Clearwater Revival and successful solo artist, will headline the second Country Fest QLD this March.

Fogerty will perform for over two hours in his first Australian performance since 2012. The Proud Mary singer is set to play two sets – one of his solo material and another performing Creedence Clearwater Revival classics with his band.

The American rock and country phenomenon will perform those Creedence songs – Bad Moon Rising, Proud Mary, Born On The Bayou, Fortunate Son, Have You Ever Seen The Rain – the way you know and love.

Country Fest QLD occurs on Saturday, 30 March, and Sunday, 31 March, at Dittmann Bull Pit, Bloomsbury, in Mackay, Queensland.

According to a press release, more acts will be announced soon.

This time last year, Fogerty gained a majority interest in Creedence Clearwater Revival’s discography after 50 years of trying to regain the rights to his songs.

In 1980, Fogerty relinquished his rights to the Creedence Clearwater Revival catalogue to get out of a problematic contract with Saul Zaentz’s Fantasy Records, which he initially signed in 1968.

After decades of fighting and even refusing to play the songs he wrote with the band so Zaentz wouldn't get any money from his performances, Fogerty purchased a majority interest in the discography, Billboard reported.

“I’m the dad [of these songs]. I created them. They never should have been taken away in the first place,” the singer told Billboard

“The happiest way to look at it is, yeah, it isn’t everything," Fogerty said, as he owns a majority but still doesn't have full ownership. “It’s not a 100% win for me, but it’s sure better than it was. I’m really kind of still in shock. I haven’t allowed my brain to really, actually, start feeling it yet.”
