Job For A Cowboy Reform, Drop Their First Single In Nine Years 'The Agony Seeping Storm'

Arizona death metal band Job For A Cowboy are back with their first song in almost a decade and the announcement that they’re dropping a new, currently untitled, album in 2024.

The reformed group’s new single, The Agony Seeping Storm, is packed with extravagant, sweeping guitar solos from Tony Sannicandro and Al Glassman, Jonny Davy’s high-pitched screaming vocals, a technically outstanding performance from bassist Nick Schendzielos, engaging drumming from Navene Koperweis and memorable melodies.

Job For A Cowboy’s new music follows their 2014 fourth LP, Sun Eater. The Agony Seeping Storm follows the album’s footsteps, once again pursuing a more progressive metal-inspired death sound.

“The Agony Seeping Storm gives a slice of our upcoming concept record,” Davy revealed in a press release. “The concept was inspired by a close friend who embarked on a relentless quest for profound enlightenment through the incessant abuse of hallucinogenic drugs.”

Davy continued, “However, as they delved deeper into their religious-like experimentation, they began exhibiting symptoms of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. They came to believe that they could access an alternate, esoteric reality through hallucinogenic intoxication, where they encountered gnostic and biblical figures and imagery. These songs reflect their thoughts, ideas, and experiences.”

According to a new press release, more information about Job For A Cowboy’s upcoming album will land in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

While the band were previously known for their pig-squealing brand of extreme metal, Kill Your Stereo said about their Sun Eater album, “Sun Eater sees Job For A Cowboy definitively say goodbye to their deathcore roots and deliver a consistent and imposing death metal album that stands out.

“With its excellent guitar work and layered grooves that all are presented with a continuity they have lacked in the past, these guys have finally found a sound they can master.”

Job For A Cowboy will perform at the Blue Ridge Rock Festival at the Virginia International Raceway this September. The festival is headlined by Five Finger Death Punch, Slipknot, Shinedown and Pantera. Evanescence, Limp Bizkit, Megadeth, Rise Against, Babymetal, The Used and many more are also on the line-up.
